STATES / TEXAS / SAN ANTONIO

San Antonio offers a TxDOT crash-report search and an SAPD records-request process. Choose the route based on whether you need the crash report itself or additional records from the response.

Order the crash report through TxDOT

SAPD links to TxDOT’s online purchase system for crash reports. The city says reports can take up to 14 days to appear and identifies certified and uncertified copies as available options. Check which copy the receiving organization needs before paying.

Request additional records from SAPD

SAPD’s records page also covers calls for service, towing records, 911 calls, and body or dash camera footage. These are separate record types; ordering a crash report does not automatically request them.

For an SAPD request, use the case number if known. Otherwise, the city asks for at least two identifying details, such as the date, location, involved names, or a basic incident description. Its online portal requires an account. Mail and in-person instructions are also available; the listed Records Office is at 315 S. Santa Rosa. Verify fees and hours on the official page before visiting.

Use TransGuide for San Antonio roadway conditions

TxDOT’s San Antonio TransGuide provides traffic information covering accidents, congestion, and construction. Its district traveler-information pages also offer roadway cameras. A camera view is a view of a location at a moment in time, not a completed crash investigation or a promise that footage has been retained.

San Antonio traffic information currently opens on the official external service. An automated San Antonio incident feed is not connected to Accident Advisory. Missing map entries do not establish that a road is clear.

San Antonio police calls are broader than crashes

SAPD publishes active non-dispositioned calls and a separate calls-for-service dashboard covering the past week. Its category guide lists traffic violations, stops, abandoned vehicles, and other traffic-related calls. These labels should not be counted as confirmed crashes. We currently link to the official source rather than converting all traffic calls into accident alerts.

Describe the exact San Antonio location

For crashes near interchanges, write down both roads, the travel direction, and whether the vehicle was on a ramp, main lane, or frontage road. Distinguish Loop 410 from Loop 1604 and retain the responding agency’s details. A crash described broadly as “San Antonio” may have been investigated by another department.

Keep requests specific

List each record you are seeking, the relevant time window, and any known case number. Save the request acknowledgment and respond to agency questions about scope. If evidence may matter to a claim, ask a licensed attorney promptly about preservation rather than assuming an online traffic image will remain available.

Texas rules and next steps

Our Texas resource hub covers statewide report access and general lawsuit deadlines. City resources do not change the statewide rules. Use the accident checklist to organize next steps and the expense tracker to separate documented costs from estimates.
