STATES & DISTRICTS / GEORGIA / ATLANTA
Use this Atlanta guide to find the correct crash-report request, understand local data coverage, and reach official traffic resources. Start with the investigating agency and report number on your paperwork.
Start with Atlanta Police Central Records
Atlanta Police Central Records is the repository for its officers’ reports and links to BuyCrash for accident-report purchases. Use the official page for current access details and contact information before visiting the office.
Customized or bulk records requests and 911 audio use the department’s separate Open Records Unit. A single crash-report purchase does not automatically include those materials. If Georgia State Patrol or another municipality investigated, an Atlanta-area address does not make the record an APD report.

LOCAL RESOURCE CONTEXT
Additional records require a clear description
Atlanta’s Open Records Unit handles requests beyond the standard report-copy route. Identify the incident date, location, agency report number, and particular record types you need. Keep a copy of the request and any response. An online traffic notice is a preliminary travel resource, not a substitute for an investigative record or evidence-preservation request.
Official traffic resources: Atlanta area
Georgia 511 provides regional travel information. Select the relevant roadway, direction, and event category and check the source’s own update time. Coverage may include construction, hazards, and incidents outside city limits; it is not a complete record of all local crashes.
This opens an external service. An automated Atlanta feed is not connected here. A missing alert does not mean roads are clear. Do not use traffic maps while driving.
Keep a useful record for follow-up
- Save the investigating agency, report number, date, and precise road or intersection.
- Retain your request confirmation and a dated copy of any report received.
- Keep original photos, repair estimates, and towing or rental receipts together.
- List missing documents or corrections for the records office separately from insurance questions.
