STATES & DISTRICTS / OKLAHOMA / TULSA

Use this Tulsa guide to find the correct crash-report request, understand local data coverage, and reach official traffic resources. Start with the investigating agency and report number on your paperwork.

Use Tulsa’s Open Records Center for existing records

Tulsa Police directs record and video requests to its Open Records Center. Describe the records precisely using the incident date, location, report number, and record type, rather than asking for every document associated with an address.

The department notes that radio logs are maintained by Public Safety Communications, a separate department. A request for those logs may therefore follow a different route from a police report. Tulsa’s separate Traffic Collision Report form is for submitting a qualifying new report, not buying a copy of an officer’s existing report.

LOCAL RESOURCE CONTEXT

Check city limits before using a self-report form

Tulsa’s online traffic-collision reporting service has eligibility rules and excludes collisions outside Tulsa city limits. Follow the official instructions and retain any confirmation number. A self-submission confirmation is different from an officer’s completed investigation record and does not determine responsibility for a crash. Do not use an online form for an emergency.

Drive Oklahoma provides regional travel information. Select the relevant roadway, direction, and event category and check the source’s own update time. Coverage may include construction, hazards, and incidents outside city limits; it is not a complete record of all local crashes.

Keep a useful record for follow-up

  • Save the investigating agency, report number, date, and precise road or intersection.
  • Retain your request confirmation and a dated copy of any report received.
  • Keep original photos, repair estimates, and towing or rental receipts together.
  • List missing documents or corrections for the records office separately from insurance questions.
