STATES & DISTRICTS / FLORIDA / JACKSONVILLE
Use this Jacksonville guide to find the correct crash-report request, understand local data coverage, and reach official traffic resources. Start with the investigating agency and report number on your paperwork.
Request a JSO traffic-crash report
Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office provides crash-report requests through its public services counter and district locations, with an online public-records request link on the official services page. It directs requests for reports older than two years to Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.
The office distinguishes simple counter requests from extensive research or redaction work, which may require an estimate and payment before processing. Check the current instructions before traveling or submitting documents. Requesting an existing report is different from submitting a driver’s own report.

LOCAL RESOURCE CONTEXT
Completed reports and completed calls are not active alerts
JSO’s transparency portal provides a crash map based on police responses that resulted in completed crash reports, with records beginning in 2022. This is historical report data. Its separate calls-for-service service displays recently completed calls, not an active-road status feed. Neither should be presented as a comprehensive list of crashes happening now.
Official traffic resources: Jacksonville area
FL511 provides regional travel information. Select the relevant roadway, direction, and event category and check the source’s own update time. Coverage may include construction, hazards, and incidents outside city limits; it is not a complete record of all local crashes.
This opens an external service. An automated Jacksonville feed is not connected here. A missing alert does not mean roads are clear. Do not use traffic maps while driving.
Keep a useful record for follow-up
- Save the investigating agency, report number, date, and precise road or intersection.
- Retain your request confirmation and a dated copy of any report received.
- Keep original photos, repair estimates, and towing or rental receipts together.
- List missing documents or corrections for the records office separately from insurance questions.
