STATES & DISTRICTS / MARYLAND / BALTIMORE

Use this Baltimore guide to find the correct crash-report request, understand local data coverage, and reach official traffic resources. Start with the investigating agency and report number on your paperwork.

Use Baltimore City’s report-copy service

Baltimore Police offers online access through its linked crash-report vendor for city reports dated January 1, 2011 or later. Older records use the Community Correspondence Unit, with a separate path for older microfilm records. Search information can include the report number, name and date, or location.

Baltimore City Police and Baltimore County Police are separate agencies. A tunnel or transportation-facility investigation may involve Maryland Transportation Authority Police. Confirm the agency before paying for a search, and use the official page for older-record instructions rather than assuming the online service covers every year.

LOCAL RESOURCE CONTEXT

Filter Baltimore City separately from Baltimore County

Maryland’s crash-data dashboard supports historical analysis. Its documentation cautions that fatality counts can differ across sources because of reporting criteria and timing. Select Baltimore City when that is the area you intend to study, and preserve the reporting period. A statewide or county count should not be labeled as a city count.

Maryland CHART provides regional travel information. Select the relevant roadway, direction, and event category and check the source’s own update time. Coverage may include construction, hazards, and incidents outside city limits; it is not a complete record of all local crashes.

Keep a useful record for follow-up

  • Save the investigating agency, report number, date, and precise road or intersection.
  • Retain your request confirmation and a dated copy of any report received.
  • Keep original photos, repair estimates, and towing or rental receipts together.
  • List missing documents or corrections for the records office separately from insurance questions.
