STATES & DISTRICTS / MICHIGAN / DETROIT

Use this Detroit guide to find the correct crash-report request, understand local data coverage, and reach official traffic resources. Start with the investigating agency and report number on your paperwork.

Use Michigan’s current MiLogin crash-report route

Michigan moved its Traffic Crash Purchasing System to MiLogin effective April 14, 2026. Start with the Michigan State Police instructions to reach the current service rather than following older payment or login instructions.

The state explains that TCPS appears among accessible MiLogin services after the user registers or logs into TCPS. Keep the UD-10 crash-report information, date, and investigating agency available. Buying a report copy is separate from contacting law enforcement to report a collision; Detroit’s local records office remains relevant for other police documents.

LOCAL RESOURCE CONTEXT

Keep Detroit records separate from regional traffic alerts

Detroit Police’s records page is the local starting point for police documents and current contact instructions. A Detroit-area highway alert may involve state police or another agency. Record the numbered road, direction, and nearest exit, then use the agency named on your paperwork for report follow-up. A traveler-map incident is not a completed UD-10 report.

Michigan Mi Drive provides regional travel information. Select the relevant roadway, direction, and event category and check the source’s own update time. Coverage may include construction, hazards, and incidents outside city limits; it is not a complete record of all local crashes.

This opens an external service. An automated Detroit feed is not connected here. A missing alert does not mean roads are clear. Do not use traffic maps while driving.

Keep a useful record for follow-up

  • Save the investigating agency, report number, date, and precise road or intersection.
  • Retain your request confirmation and a dated copy of any report received.
  • Keep original photos, repair estimates, and towing or rental receipts together.
  • List missing documents or corrections for the records office separately from insurance questions.
