STATES & DISTRICTS / NEVADA / LAS VEGAS

Use this Las Vegas guide to find the correct crash-report request, understand local data coverage, and reach official traffic resources. Start with the investigating agency and report number on your paperwork.

Confirm LVMPD investigated before requesting a copy

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police offers an online report request and in-person service through its Records and Fingerprint Bureau or area commands. Its instructions require valid government photo identification and available report details. A request for delivery by U.S. mail has additional identity-verification requirements; check that section before mailing documents.

LVMPD’s FAQ distinguishes its jurisdiction from Henderson, North Las Vegas, Boulder City, and freeway traffic investigations. A Las Vegas mailing address or regional description is not enough to identify the records custodian. Match the agency on your paperwork before submitting a request.

LOCAL RESOURCE CONTEXT

Regional traffic coverage is broader than police jurisdiction

Nevada DOT’s traveler resources link to Nevada 511 and camera information. Use the road, direction, and nearest interchange to check conditions. A regional traffic entry may concern a state-highway investigation rather than LVMPD. Traveler information does not establish injury outcomes or which agency will release a report.

Official traffic resources: Las Vegas area

Nevada DOT travel information provides regional travel information. Select the relevant roadway, direction, and event category and check the source’s own update time. Coverage may include construction, hazards, and incidents outside city limits; it is not a complete record of all local crashes.

Keep a useful record for follow-up

  • Save the investigating agency, report number, date, and precise road or intersection.
  • Retain your request confirmation and a dated copy of any report received.
  • Keep original photos, repair estimates, and towing or rental receipts together.
  • List missing documents or corrections for the records office separately from insurance questions.
