STATES & DISTRICTS / TENNESSEE / NASHVILLE
Use this Nashville guide to find the correct crash-report request, understand local data coverage, and reach official traffic resources. Start with the investigating agency and report number on your paperwork.
Use MNPD’s official crash-report purchase route
Metro Nashville Police directs crash-report purchases to PurchaseTNCrash through its official instructions. Searches begin with the crash date, and applicants certify an eligible involvement, property interest, or representative role.
Minor crashes self-reported through MNPD’s own portal are not included in that purchase system; MNPD directs requests for those records to the department. Keep the submission confirmation and police record number distinct. An active traffic listing is not a substitute for either type of report.

LOCAL RESOURCE CONTEXT
Use the traffic-specific source, not all major dispatches
Nashville has a dedicated current traffic-accident page. Its separate major-incident dispatch dataset includes other police call categories and is not a complete traffic-crash feed. The traffic page is linked externally here. Any incident category remains preliminary and may change; it is not a final medical assessment, investigation finding, or determination of fault.
Official traffic resources: Nashville area
Tennessee SmartWay provides regional travel information. Select the relevant roadway, direction, and event category and check the source’s own update time. Coverage may include construction, hazards, and incidents outside city limits; it is not a complete record of all local crashes.
This opens an external service. An automated Nashville feed is not connected here. A missing alert does not mean roads are clear. Do not use traffic maps while driving.
Keep a useful record for follow-up
- Save the investigating agency, report number, date, and precise road or intersection.
- Retain your request confirmation and a dated copy of any report received.
- Keep original photos, repair estimates, and towing or rental receipts together.
- List missing documents or corrections for the records office separately from insurance questions.
