STATES & DISTRICTS / TEXAS / EL PASO
Use this El Paso guide to find the correct crash-report request, understand local data coverage, and reach official traffic resources. Start with the investigating agency and report number on your paperwork.
Use El Paso Police’s records instructions
El Paso Police’s Records Division provides accident, incident, and offense reports, with a public open-records request portal and mail or delivery instructions. The official page distinguishes the standard crash-report charge from certification and mail charges.
For a mailed request, include a return postal address and follow the current payment instructions; do not mail cash. The page lists a response allowance rather than guaranteeing that all records will be released within a fixed period. Use the public records route, not the separate inter-agency or subpoena portals.

LOCAL RESOURCE CONTEXT
Keep the investigating agency with the location
For an El Paso-area crash, retain the street or highway, direction, nearest cross street or exit, and police report number. An event on a regional travel map does not establish whether city police, county deputies, or state officers investigated. Use the official department’s records instructions to confirm the right request route before paying.
Official traffic resources: El Paso area
DriveTexas provides regional travel information. Select the relevant roadway, direction, and event category and check the source’s own update time. Coverage may include construction, hazards, and incidents outside city limits; it is not a complete record of all local crashes.
This opens an external service. An automated El Paso feed is not connected here. A missing alert does not mean roads are clear. Do not use traffic maps while driving.
Keep a useful record for follow-up
- Save the investigating agency, report number, date, and precise road or intersection.
- Retain your request confirmation and a dated copy of any report received.
- Keep original photos, repair estimates, and towing or rental receipts together.
- List missing documents or corrections for the records office separately from insurance questions.
