The City of Austin directs users to LexisNexis BuyCrash for reports within Austin Police Department jurisdiction. Start from the official city page to reach the current ordering service and check its eligibility and payment requirements.
Use the sheriff’s vehicle-accident report instructions rather than assuming APD holds the record. The sheriff lists mail and in-person request options and notes that reports may take time to become available.
Look at the responding officer’s information card or incident number. A crash described as “Austin” may involve a different investigating agency. If Texas DPS or another department responded, use that agency’s instructions or the statewide TxDOT report route linked in our Texas hub.
What the alert can—and cannot—tell you
The source supplies a reported category, roadway location, agency, and timestamps. A category such as “Crash Urgent” is the source’s dispatch label; it does not confirm an injury. Removal from an active snapshot is not proof of a final investigation outcome. A traffic alert is not the police crash report.
