DALLAS ROAD SAFETY CONTEXT

Where serious crashes concentrate

The City of Dallas identifies a High Injury Network: 7% of city streets account for 62% of crashes resulting in death or severe injury, according to its published Vision Zero data page.

This is a network-planning finding, not a count of today’s accidents or a prediction about a particular driver. The source page does not specify the analysis period beside this statistic; use its linked map and dashboard to inspect the underlying coverage before making comparisons.

Request a Dallas Police crash report

Dallas Police lists mail and in-person requests through its records customer-service window at 1400 Botham Jean. Have the crash date, location, an involved person’s name, and the Police Service Number ready. The department says reports are usually available after five to seven working days; this is an estimate, not a guaranteed completion date.

The records page lists a $6 fee for these accident-report requests and gives 214-671-3345 for assistance. Verify current instructions before mailing payment or visiting. The department says accident information is not released over the telephone.

Check Dallas active police calls

The City of Dallas publishes an official Dallas Police Active Calls dataset and lists a two-minute update frequency. It includes many types of police calls, not only collisions. Read the nature-of-call field and source update time before treating an entry as relevant to a crash.

Dallas and Fort Worth are separate report searches

If your trip crossed the Metroplex, use the collision location and responding officer’s paperwork to identify the correct agency. A search for a Dallas Police report will not establish whether Fort Worth or a neighboring department has a record. For an FWPD investigation, follow our Fort Worth report guide.
